What led you to a job at Zipline Interactive?
Ryan and I started Zipline with the core motto of Designs with Purpose. We wanted to provide our customers with marketing solutions that made a difference for their organization and their end users. We both like to build things that help people.
Do you believe Al Gore invented the Internet?
He didn't actually say he "invented" it, he just took credit for it.
What is your favorite part of working in digital advertising?
I love the fluid nature of it. If we need to make a change, we can do it quickly. We can track data and make modifications to dial in the effectiveness of a campaign, then see the results immediately. There's also a thrill in learning new things every day. It's fast-paced in a way that advertising 20 years ago could never imagine.
Outside of digital advertising, what is your dream job?
Bartender. I love talking to people and I make a perfect Gin & Tonic. If not that, then a full-time cartoonist.
What is your favorite thing about working at Zipline?
Helping our clients make a difference in their organization. Sometimes it's helping them get their life back with a website that saves them hours each day. Sometimes it's driving donations and volunteers to a non-profit. I guess it's just the Eagle Scout in me. (Yeah, I got my Eagle Scout badge and I looked good in the uniform.)
What do you do when you’re not at work?
I like to work on my 1951 Chevrolet and 1970 VW Beetle. There's a sense of satisfaction you get when working with your hands.
What is the craziest thing you've ever done?
Being the oldest child, I'm pretty safety conscious. But I'd have to say the 100+ MPH midnight run on a local section of highway. Damn I wish I still had that car.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
I was too embarrassed to take a figure drawing class in college.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?
Hmm, I'd have to say the movie Nacho Libre with Jack Black. Nacho wanted to be a great luchador and at one point he says, "I am the gatekeeper to my own destiny and I will have my glory day in the hot sun." Good reminder that belief in yourself is the key to success.
Who is your idol?
My parents, without a doubt. My dad for his creativity and common sense approach to things. My mom for the love and care she brings to everything she does.
